Message from the founder

I would like to express my deepest, sincere gratitude with profound appreciation for all those who have wholeheartedly supported for the establishment of this new, and yet, remarkable organization called the Somaliland American Friendship Foundation. (S.A.F.F) This new organization will effectively work with local and international partners to help address the wide range of challenges and threats facing our communities in the United States, Europe and the Aisa-pacific region.

The Somaliland-American Friendship Foundation (SAFF) serves as a non-political, not-for-profit making organization providing assistance to the members of Somaliland communities in the United States and other Somalilanders residing in Canada, Europe and the Asia-Pacicific region. The organization is dedicated to freely serve, promote, and tremendously encourage the US government to generously provide assistance to the desperately needed people of Somaliland.

The areas in which SAFF focuses its work and tremendously encourages include strong diplomatic relations, security cooperation, good governance, food insecurity, women’s empowerment, disability services as well as providing assistance and support in projects to help in the social and economic development programs.

However, this organization will particularly focus on to seek, promote and encourage for more involvements from the US government. In terms of Somaliland's security cooperation, promoting a profound strong and tangible diplomatic relations, trade and other investment opportunities towards republic of Somaliland. We are therefore determinedly seeking from the US government to seriously support Somaliland’s self-determination in order to overcome those serious threats and other challenges mentioned as above.

Nonetheless, we hope and strongly encourage the US government to fully support the ongoing war against terrorism and their extremist affiliated organizations in Somalia, who are currently control many parts of Somalia, and yet determinedly willing to perpetually commit a heinous crime against so many innocents and desperately needed people out there, and ultimately can pose a serious threat to Somaliland’s national security as we share a long and mostly uncontrolled border with Somalia.

We profoundly request from the US government to generously provide a meaningful and tangible support towards Somaliland’s self-determination. In order to overcome and encounter those deadly and totally unpredictable challenges out there. Of these deadly threats and other totally unpredictable challenges of piracy and of course, those international terrorist organizations of Al-Qaida, ISIS and other affiliated organizations including Al Shabab.

But unfortunately, Somaliland has got a very limited resources availabilities and not much international acknowledgments. However, the unwavering self-determination and the extremely well overdue international recognition that we desperately seek and definitely deserve is still extremely well overdue. If Somaliland gets its rightful position internationally, and yet obtain all the desperately needed assistance and other mechanisms, we can therefore easily defeat all these terrorists and their affiliated extremist organizations. And yet again, tackle down these challenges and threats posed by this deadly and totally merciless terrorist organization called Al Shabab and its affiliates. that is only if Somaliland is fully supported by the international community and, ultimately accepted its rightful position in the international community as a fully and independent nation. Just like South Sudan.
The Somaliland-American Friendship Foundation (SAFF) is in the process of creating a great milestone based on nothing but a tremendous accomplishment as we possibly intend to step in and yet again, face any challenges ahead in order to embrace a world filled with infinite possibilities. Reaching them all wherever they are and wholeheartedly helping our desperately needed people back home, (Somaliland), is our paramount concern and unshakable principle supported and fully demonstrated by all members of Somaliland-American Friendship Foundation staff. With absolute dedication and total commitment.

The organization’s vision is an interconnected and accessible range of services that ensures that the less privileged individuals from the Horn of African region have access to the tools and support that they desperately needed to fully integrate and settle successfully into their own communities. However, we aim to provide a link to the local communities and to provide individuals and families with the tools they need to become successful and engaged members of their new communities. We aim to achieve this by bringing together many different communities and other concerned governmental organizations to both coordinate services and present a strong united voice to local, state, and of course, internationally. We also undertake small projects to support and improve the lives of communities in the United States as a whole.
